Whitnall Park

I had a two-day work trip to Milwaukee planned for the end of October. I knew I would have some down time and decided it would a great opportunity to get out and take some photos of the area. I did a little bit of research and came across Whitnall Park. Let me start with the park is huge and filled with beautiful things. Whether it was gorgeous stonework or huge trees, I was in love. I took my time and walked around, soaking in everything I could. I took a picture of everything I felt was beautiful. I know I could have spent hours walking around, but it was starting to get dark, and I still needed to find the waterfall. After a few wrong turns and asking some friendly people for directions, I finally found the waterfall. If I had blinked, I would have missed the path to the waterfall. The first thing I noticed was how peaceful the area was. I stood there for a minute, and all I could hear was the running water, and everything else was still. I carefully plotted my strategy to obtain the photos I desired of the waterfall. My goal was not to end up in the water….I was successful! On my way out, I stopped at a bench that was facing the lake and discovered something that touched my heart… Stop and rest right here – think of those you hold dear. That stopped me in my tracks. I sat down on the bench and thought of my wonderful family and friends and why I am thankful for each and every one of them. I hope I get the opportunity someday to go back to Whitnall Park.

Boat Captain

I was wrapping up a family photo session at Centennial Lakes and decided it was just too beautiful to head home. So I walked for a while admiring the fall colors and thinking how lucky we are to have such a beautiful fall. I found myself over by the “boat” area. As I watched the boats skim across the water, I realized what a peaceful hobby this must be. So many people of different ages, genders, races, all enjoying playing boat captain to a motorized boat. The boats were all different shapes and sizes. So I stood there for a few minutes, watching the boat captains and spectators enjoy this fall day. After “being in the moment”, I decided to snap a few photos. So whether you are a boat captain or a spectator, I hope you enjoy.

Quinn and Lauren

Two of my favorite people in the world – Quinn and Lauren. They happen to belong to my oldest and dearest friend, Jessica. Quinn is a little nuts, lots of energy, silly, strong-willed but also gentle, just like her mom. Lauren has a sweet and innocent smile, and she has a healthy appetite, she is a mover and shaker, and she doesn’t put up with nonsense, just like her mom. I can’t wait to watch these two little gems grow up and change the world.

Jerry’s Apple Farm

I finally made the pilgrimage to Jordan, MN to experience Minnesota’s largest candy store- Jerry’s Apple Farm….Well, they sell candy, apples, apple pie, pumpkins and a ton of other stuff. I do find the name, Jerry’s Apple Farm an interesting choice since it isn’t on a farm. While they do sell apples, they sell about a million other things as well.

I was overwhelmed with the wall-to-wall soda, candy, fresh apple pies, puzzles, apples and people. They have just about every kind of candy you can think of. I found some old favorites from my childhood. The Clark bar is a blend of milk chocolate and peanut butter and oh so delicious. Fruit Striped gum! Who doesn’t love five different kinds of flavored gum wrapped in wrappers that also offer tattoos! Those were my two favorite finds of the day that I simply could not live without. So if you enjoy wall-to-wall people, long lines and candy, Jerry’s Apple Farm is perfect place for you!

Lunar Eclipse

When I went to bed Tuesday night, I was excited to “sleep in” till 6am the next day. Of course, I couldn’t sleep in. So, I decided when I woke up at about 5:25am that I should see if I could get a nice shot of the lunar eclipse also known as the blood moon. I had nothing better to do at 5:25 in the morning so why not, right… So I get up and take a shower, grab my camera and head outside. As I stood in my driveway in my PJs, wet hair, slippers, and all, I thought to myself, I hope none of my neighbors drive by. After taking a few shots, I knew I was going to have to go dig out my tripod. A few minutes later I was back out outside and ready to go. So after about 5 minutes of freezing my butt off in the middle of my driveway at 5:55am, I decided I would be happy as long as one photo turned out. So here is one photo of the lunar eclipse.

Emma & Ethan

Sunday morning was a chilly fall day but still beautiful. I met the Kaul family at Centennial Lakes in Edina. We were all bundled up and ready for an adventure. It was hard to believe that Emma was turning four later this month. She is still the sweet, bright-eyed little girl I remember. Of course, little Ethan spotted me and I knew that he was going to make me work for every giggle, every smile and even every stare but that is ok because it is oh, so worth it. We had a wonderful time walking around Centennial Lakes, talking and taking photos- two favorite things to do. Emma did an awesome job helping me find the perfect spot(s) to have her photo taken. Mom and dad were worth their weight in gold- being silly and goofy, anything for a laugh or smile. Happy early 4th Birthday Miss Emma! I had a wonderful time, and I hope they did too. Enjoy!

Miss Aleah

There are a handful of things that I adore…I ADORE one-year photo shoots. Eeek! I just love them, and I am a sucker for milestones and there something about turning one that just makes smile. With being said, let me introduce to you Miss Aleah.

Miss Aleah is a sweet little girl, and I loved spending my Sunday morning with her. There are few things I learned about her at her one-year photo session that I must share with you. First, she is one happy little girl. She loves to use her feet like they are her hands. She is still figuring out if she likes grass, or not but the outlook is good. She loves when her dad swings her around and around. She likes to play with her mom’s necklace. She enjoys cheetos, and if you are lucky, she will share with you. She loves her giraffe, and she is turning ONE! Miss Aleah, let me be the first to wish you a very Happy First Birthday and many more!

A beautiful Fall morning with the Silbernick Family

It was gorgeous Fall Sunday morning, and I was lucky enough to spend it with this great family – Jeremiah, Lisa, Savannah and Wyatt. Savannah is about the sweetest little girl you will meet. She is a natural in front of the camera and can strike a pose at a moment’s notice. Wyatt is the funny man; he has 100 different smiles. We started our session at a beautiful old bridge over the Crow River and ended up at a local park. All in all is was a great session, and I was able to capture some great photos. Enjoy!
